Derema Group, the Marine Industry’s largest sales agency, has partnered with ABYC, the essential source of technical information and standards, to educate and train employees.
This alliance with ABYC provides Derema with additional educational tools.
Derema Group, founded in 2000, has continuously looked for new and innovative ways to serve the marine market. Over the past 24 months, Derema has developed and refined tools designed to assist the OEM, installer, dealer, distributor salesman, retail store associate and our vendor brands.
These tools include DeremaHelp, Best Brand Rewards LMS, ShareFile, Maximizer CRM, e-Lerts and more. The underlying theme of all these tools is to provide critical information quickly and accurately to the people that need it when they need it.

This past year, Derema invested in our associates to become the first representative company where our sales specialists have become ABYC Certified Advisors. This certification, designed for surveyors and dealers, allows Derema to further raise our level of education and provide additional resources to our customers in all segments of the marine market. “Being ABYC Certified Advisors has really upped the game for our sales specialists” said Kurt Forsman, President of Derema Group. “The certification class was not easy, but we all came through it with a better understanding of the products we represent and the proper applications for those devices.”
ABYC’s training information also allows Derema to speak with OEM’s and installers about the need to be properly educated on the products they support. With the number of new boaters coming into the industry and the rapidly changing connectivity of devices, a deep understanding of the ABYC standards is a critical part of the assembly and installation process.

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is a non-profit, member organization that develops voluntary global safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of recreational boats. ABYC also has a long-established commitment to providing technical education, training, certification, and professional development.
Today, 90% of boats on the water are built to ABYC Standards and over 4,000 technicians are trained and certified by ABYC so that boats are maintained with the highest level of technical expertise.

“We are pleased Derema chose ABYC as their industry training partner and commend their leadership on investing in employee education to have a direct impact on safe boating,” said ABYC President John Adey. “This relationship aligns with ABYC’s goal to increase the level of knowledge and professionalism in the boating industry.”
